CBS RADIO MYSTERY THEATER: AFTERWARD (MARCH 2, 1976)

Edith Wharton's classic ghost story "Afterward" was adapted for radio by Murray Burnett, and features Celeste Holm, Larry Haines, John Shea, Guy Sorrell, and Ian Martin.  As usual, the program was directed by Hyman Brown, with E. G. Marshall as your host.  It's a ghost story of greed and retribution.  The ghost comes for one of the main characters long after the character wronged another.  If revenge is a dish best served cold, then retribution can often be taken...afterward..

Enjoy.

  1. A good choice for the MYSTERY THEATER, and I should give it a listen. I once meant to write up the story for the Horror list, but things got in the way of rereading it in time to do so (haven't read it since I was very young). I enjoyed hearing the series in Connecticut (Hartford CBS, I'd assume) in '75. missed it in NH from '76 to '79 (no Boston clearance I could find, I guess), then would fairly frequently listen in spring-early summer of '79 while my folks watched MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE repeats in the living room of our temporary Honolulu condo (before my folks could find and buy a house)...I would go into the one bedroom and catch THE SEARS RADIO THEATER and CBS MT on KHVH Honolulu (having seen too many of the MIs over the recent years to find it as nostalgic as the folks did), if I didn't go down to the lobby to read.
