Tim Hardin (1941-1980) was once called by Bob Dylan "the greatest living songwriter," was sadly plagued by alcohol and drug dependency during his short life, dying of an accidental heroin overdose t age 39. When he was found dead, none of his albums were in print. Had he lived, he might have rivalled Dylan or Leonard Cohen for popularity, As it was, Hardin left the world with some memorable songs.

"Reason to Believe" is my favorite Tim Hardin song. Many singers have done versions of this song, but I have a fondness for Rod Stewart's classic.
ReplyDeleteDid you get to hear/see him in the Boston folk clubs back when?
ReplyDeleteSadly, I never did. My folkie days back then were more or less limited to Club 47, with an occasional stop at the Unicorn, and a few rare concerts. Money was a big factor back then.
DeleteIt's either just occurring to me, or again, that WGBX-TV 44, the little UHF sibling to WGBH 2, ran its 1970s "nightclub" variety show CLUB 44 at least in part as call-back to Club 47.
