SHERLOCK HOLMES: THE ADVENTURE OF THE CHRISTMAS BRIDE (DECEMBER 21, 1947)

The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes  ran for nine seasons from 1939-1950, for a total of 374 eppisodes.  Sadly many of the later episodes are lost to time.  The show itself changed titles and by 1947 it was generally known just as Sherlock Holmes.  B asil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce played the lead characters for most of the program's run.  Rathbone left after 220 episodes, to be replaced by Tom Conway.  Conway and Bruce were both replaced by John Stanley as Holmes and Alfred Shirley as Watson.  Information is scant on the other actors in the series, but various actors played Mrs. Hudson and Inspector Lestrade at various times; for some of the episodes, Mrs. Hudson was played by Mary Gordon, who also portrayed her in the Rathbone-Bruce films from 1939-1946.  The show began on the Blue Network, moving to the Mutual Broadcasting Company for the fourth season.  The sixth and the ninth seaon, it ran on ABC Radio,  Most of the early shows were written Edith Meisner.  When she left, the writing was taken over by Denis Green and Leslie Charteris.  Green then teamed up with Anthony Boucher to write most of the shows for seasons four, five, and six.  Meisner returned to write the shows for season seven, beginning in September 1947. -- in which this episode appeared.  the announcer for season seven was Cy Harris.

It's time to match your Christmas wits against those of the world's greatest detective.  Are you up to the challenge?
