LUX RADIO THEATER: ARE HUSBANDS NECESSARY? (FEBRUARY 15, 1943)

George Burns and Gracie Allen take over the leads in this adaptation of the Norman Taurog's 1942 film which starred Ray Milland and Betty Fields, and was based on the novel Mr. and Mrs. Cugat, the Record of a Happy Marriage by Isobel Scott Rorick.  A wacky wife and an exasperated, loving husband, a perhaps troubled marriage that may be repaired by the adoption of a baby, shattered hopes for a promotion at his bank because of the wife's meddling, and the surprise appearance of an ex-flame...the perfect recipe for comedic mayhem.

The great thing about this episode is Gracie.  But you knew that already, didn't you?
