Today is the birthday of American pioneer Danile Boone (1734-1820). Cavalcade of America aired on the radio from 1935 to 1932, and on television from 1952 to 1957. The program sponsor was the DuPont Company, which used the series to promote its "better living through chemistry" philosophy. The show emphasized the triumph of the American spirit through its dramatized episodes.
