Once again the game is afoot as Holmes (Ronald Howard) and Watson (H. Marion Crawford) investigate a death at the home of Lord Beryl. An Austrian agent has been shot and Lady Beryl has confessed to the crime, but Holmes is convinced ahe is innocent. despite Lestrade (Archie Duncan) believing he has an open and shut case. Lady Beryl is portrayed by Paulette Goddard (The Cat and the Canary, The Ghost Breakers, The Great Dictator) in her television acting debut.
Lady Beryl was the second of thirty-nine episodes in the 1954-55 series. It was directed by Jack Gage, from a script by Sheldon Reynolds, who also served as the show's producer.. This was an original story and not, despite the title, based on Conan Doyle's story "The Beryl Coronet."
