OVERLOOKED MOVIE: MIDNIGHT MANHUNT (1945)

There's nothing like an innocuous bit of fluff to watch during a pandemic, even if it involves murder in a wax museum.

Ann Savage plays reporter Sue Gallagher, who is first on the scene when a master criminal dies in a wax museum, shot!  Hot on the story, she finds herself in competition with her boyfriend, rival reporter Pete Willis (William Gargan).  When the killer comes back for the body, Sue finds herself trapped!  Also featuring Leo Gorcey as wax museum custodian Clutch Tracy and George Zucco as the killer, Jelke.

A fast moving hour of a "who's-got-the-body?" mystery laced with comedy. Midnight Manhunt was directed by William C. Thomas (Big Town, I Cover Big Town, Big Town After Dark...notice a theme here?) from an original script by David Lang (Queen of Burlesque, The Nebraskan, Hellcats of the Navy).  A low  budget minor gem.

Enjoy.
