"Midnight, the witching hour when the night is darkest, our fears the strongest, and our strenth at its lowest ebb. Midnight, when the graves gape open and death strikes."
Murder at Midnight aired it's 51 half-hour episodes from September 16, 1946 to September 8 of the following year, first on the fledgling ABC Radio Network, then later on Mutual and some independent affliates. With an average budget of $5000 per episode -- well above the norm for radio programs of that time -- Murder at Midnight continued to draw large audience shares well into its syndication.
"The Dead Come Back," airing on November 11, 1946, features Joseph Julien in a chilling tale of confession through hypnotism. The episode was written by William Moorehead and directed by Anton Leader.
