ERIN'S FAMILY BOOK CLUB -- JANUARY 2026

My granddaughter decided that our family needed our own book club.  The way ti works is that each of us will choose potential books each month, no holds barred (any litersry genre), and a random computer generation will select the book to be read for that month.

Out first choices were:

  • Frederick Backman - Beartown
  • Frances Hodgson Burnett - The Secret Garden
  • Michael Crichton - Micro
  • Justin Cronin - The Passage
  • J.-F Duneau - A God in the Shed
  • Thomas Harris - Red Dragon
  • Scott Hawkins - The Library at Mount Char
  • Sally Hepworth - Darling Girls
  • John C. Maxwell - The Charismatic Leader
  • Mick Herron - Slow Horses
  • Liz Moore - The God of the Woods
  • Ava Reid - A Study in Drowning
  • Stephen Spotswood - Fortune Favors the Dead
  • Dennis E. Taylor  - We Are Legion (We Are Bob):  Bobverse, Book 1
  • Chuck Tingle - Lucky Day
  • Abraham Vergese - The Covenant of Water
And the January selection is...(drum roll, please)...A GOD IN THE SHED by J-F Dubeau!

Description from Amazon:  "The village of Saint-Ferdinand has all the trappings of a quiet life:  farmhouses stretching from one main street, a small, police precinct, a few diners and cafes, and a grocery store.  Though if an out-of-towner stopped in, they would notice one unusual thing -- a cemetery far too large and much too full for such a small town, lined with the victims of the Saint-Ferdinand killer, who has elided police for nearly two decades.  It's not until after Inspector Stephen Crowley finally catches the killer that the town discovers even darker forces are at play..."

This one was a runner- up for the American Library Association's Horror Book.

Have you read it?  Does it sound like anything you wish to read?  Are there any other books on this list that appeal to you?  All comments would be greatly appreciated
