ESCAPE: PAPA BENJAMIN (JANUARY 21, 1948)

Here's a chilling tale of voodoo as imagined by Cornell Woolrich (from his 1943 collection I Wouldn't Be in Your Shoes, published his "William Irish" pseudonym), starring Frank Lovejoy as a struggling New Orleans bandleader whop's ambition proves his downfall.  Also featured in this episode are Luis Van Rooten, Harry Bartell, and Joan Banks.  William Conrad was the announcer

Escape was a "high-adventure" anthology series that aired on CBS radio from July 7, 1947 to September 25, 1954.  This episode was produced and directed by William N. Robson.  John Dunkel adapted Woolrich's story.  "Papa Benjamin" is generally considered one of the best episodes of this top-rated series.

Enjoy.
