Once Upon a Midnight was a proposed series from ABC Radio. It was narrated by Alfred Hitchcock. The series failed to find a sponsor and died aborning. The pilot episode was based on a novel by "Francis Iles," a pen name for Golden Age mystery author Anthony Berkley (as "Iles," Berkley also wrote Before the Fact, which Hitchcock filmed as Suspician). Malice Aforethought has also been telvised twice -- once as a four-parter on Mystery in 1979 and once as a television movie in 2005.
Married actors Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy lent their voices to this program, which attempted to cramp an awful a half hour.
Enjoy this great old-time radio experiment.
