THE MISTAKE OF THE MACHINE: A FATHER BROWN RADIO MYSTERY (DECEMBER 2, 1984)

G, K, Chesterton' famous priest-detective Father Brown (no first name, thank you, although Chesterton did accidently give him a first name twice* in the 53 tales he wrote about the character, albeit it was two different first names; thus, purists like myself prefer to have him remain first nameless) appeared in a number of half-hour adventures on BBC Radio 4 between 1984 and 1987.  Chesterton's stories were narrated by and starred Andrew Sachs.

Chesterton's original story "The Mistake of the Machine" appeared in Chesterton's second Father Brown collection, The Wisdom of Father Brown (1914).

* He was referred to in "The Eye of Apollo" (The Saturday Evening Post, February 25, 1911) as "Rev. J. Brown," and in "The Sign of the Broken Sword" (The Saturday Evening Post, January 7, 1911) as "Paul.".  In one 2016 episode of the BBC television show Father Brown, Brown is referred as "Jonas."  As I said, it is much better to have him remain first nameless,
