Frank Capra's 1938 Oscar-winning film was adapted for Lux Radio Theater for its October 2, 1939 episode. Lux Radio Theater often had the original movie stars featured in their adaptation, this time only Edward Arnold (who played Anthony Kirby) was able to make the transition; instead, Faye Wray, Robert Cummings, and Walter Connolly take the roles played in the film by Jean Arthur, James Stewart, and Lionel Barrymore.
Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning play by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, You Can't Take It With You is about the pitfalls that can happen when a guy from a staid, wealthy family falls for a poor girl with a rather eccentric family. Comedy ensues.
Enjoy.
