OVERLOOKED DOCUMENTARY: CONQUER BY THE CLOCK

"The clock on the wall -- on the 7th day of December, 1941, it struck the eleventh hour.  Every hour after that has been, will be, zero hour."

Nominated for an Oscar for best documentary in 1943 -- the first year that category was opened --Conquer by the Clock urged "Americans to make the best use of their time in a war where industrial production and combat are synchronized on an international level."  Most, if not all, of the 25 nominees for Best Documentary were war related; many were produced by various government agencies from the United States, as well as from Britain, Canada, and the Netherlands.  Conquer by the Clock was produced by Frederick Ullman, Jr., and directed by Ullman and Slavko Vorkapich.

Enjoy this blast from the past.
