LUX RADIO THEATRE: THE WESTERNER (SEPTEMBER 23, 1940)

Lux Radio Theatre -- sometimes spelled Lux Radio Theater -- was the most popular radio drama anthology series of its time, running from 1935 to 1955.  A televised version of the show ran from 1950-1957.  First based in New York, the show adapted Broadway plays for radio; once production moved to Hollywood it presented adaptations of motion pictures, and often featured the original stars.

"The Westerner" stars Gary Cooper and Walter Brennan reprising their roles of drifter Cole Harden and the infamous Judge Roy Bean, "the only law west of the Pecos."  The original movie garnered Brennan  his third Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and was nominated for Best art Direction and for Best Story.

Enjoy.
