• Peter Robinson, Friend of the Devil.  An Inspector Alan Banks mystery.
• J. K. Rowling, The Casual Vacancy.  Her first adult novel.
• Alexander McCall Smith,  44 Scotland Street.  One of his Edinburgh novels.
