OVERLOOKED MOVIE: BRIDE OF THE GORILLA

Bride of the Gorilla (1951)

Okay, here's the set-up:  Perry Mason is a gorilla and a murderous one at that.  He has the hots for the chick from KISS TOMORROW GOODBYE but she is married to Dr. Dorn from another gorilla movie.  Perry accidently kills Dorn, who plays a guy named van Gelder (no relation to the editor of F&SF), and is hunted by police guy The Wolf Man.  A jungle curse may have been involved.  Also in this flick are The Falcon  and Sgt. Rudlege (who had already been in far too many jungle pix).  Written and directed by Curt Siodmak (DONOVAN'S BRAIN, THE WOLF MAN, I WALKED WITH A VAMPIRE), the younger brother of Director Robert Siodmak (THE KILLERS).

Cheap production, a lot of talking, some eye candy, and a strain on anyone's credulity.

An entertaining movie for those who like that sort of thing.  Camp from back when camp was a tent in the jungle.

  1. Well, we can't quite overlook Everything, but boy their agents were overlooking their careers at the time, no?
