One of my highschoolmates was a devoted fan of Springsteen, and when she heard that I, in 1981, referred to Turner as known as the BotB, she was quick to suggest that I should realize Bruce was the The Boss. I let her know I'd heard that before.

The Atlantic ROCK AND ROLL album of Turner's was the only 1950s rock lp that had survived being swiped from my mother's teen-age collection by her younger sister, so I got to hear "Shake", "Flip, Flop and Flly", "Honey Hush" and more from a very young age. And bought her a Joe Turner '70s album on Pablo as a birthday gift...but that one was not so very much early rock so much as late blues with some jazz players in the mix.
